The Development Alternatives Group is the world's first social enterprise dedicated to sustainable development, striving to deliver socially equitable, environmentally sound and economically scalable development outcomes. The Development Alternatives Group setup in 1982 comprises of the Society for Development Alternatives (DA), Society for Technology and Action for Rural Advancement (TARA), and its affiliate social enterprises. Society for Development Alternatives (DA) is a society incorporated under the Societies Act XXI of 1860, engaged in sustainable development activities by providing skill development, awareness building and sustainable livelihoods.

About Bridge2Naukri 

Bridge2Naukri is an aspiring livelihood linkage programme of Development Alternatives supported by Citi Foundation (United Way Worldwide). Various Organizations including United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) are contributing to this programme as strategic partners. This digital platform (website and mobile application providing one stop solution to active job seekers and employers) enables youth to get access to entry level jobs and apprenticeship opportunities across sectors like Retail, IT/ITES, Telecom, Tourism & Hospitality, Beauty & Wellness and Banking Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI) etc. in location namely Delhi NCR, Karnataka and Maharashtra etc. at various job roles some of which are Retail Trainee Associate, Assistant Beauty Therapist, Field Coordinator, Customer Service Representative, Sales Associate, Counter Management etc. while helping them achieve their career objectives. Our promising employment partner includes PUMA, Future group, Landmark group, Tata group, Aditya Birla group, Reliance ADA and MDA group etc.

Bridge2Naukri aims to reach out to all the active job seekers who are looking for suitable job or apprenticeship opportunities across geographies and sectors. It also engages with employers of various sectors and helps them in hiring skilled candidates which will ultimately help in improving the quality of workforce and decreasing the unemployment/attrition rate to some extent. We also work with partners in different states namely; Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana for reaching out to youth and women and further linking them with suitable livelihood opportunities. Bridge2Naukri platform also offers learning opportunity to job seekers through our Innovative Internet Course Curriculum on aspects of job preparedness including pre and post placement counselling, livelihood prepared, interview readiness, digital and financial literacy etc. while providing assistance through toll free - call centre facility wherein if the job seeker needs to clarify any doubts, then our representatives will provide all the required support to them.

Partnerships

For reaching out to maximum stakeholders Bridge2Naukri programme followed partnership model wherein institutions and organisations working in different facets (trainings, job creation, job linkage etc.) were collaborated for maximising outreach and to bring synergies.. Some partnerships were made with an intention to spread across in different geographies like Delhi NCR, Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Some of the major partnerships which were made during the programme level nterventions are as follows:

  • Citi Foundation is DA’s supporting partner who is helping in scaling up the Bridge2Naukri programme through online and offline mediums. This partnership intends to benefit the prospective job seekers in getting linked to job opportunities and gaining skill sets needed for different job roles across different sectors.
  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is one of the strategic partners who have contributed in programme and strategy development. UNDP has provided all the required support in developing various partnerships including Institutions in different states. Active collaboration with them has helped the programme in reaching out to different stakeholders and in orienting as well as linking the job seekers with jobs/apprenticeships.
  • National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is another strategic partner which has contributed in strategy development for promotion of apprenticeship programmes among youth and women. They have helped in developing course curriculums by providing access to sector specific course outlines. They have also facilitated in connecting with Sector Skills Councils who further help in hiring of candidates as apprentices in respective sectors.
  • Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB): NCWEB was considered vital for this programme as it provides a platform to candidates going through graduation and post-graduation, to avail part time job opportunities and skill enhancement opportunities while continuing their studies This option helps them to get trained, to ensure financial security, as well as work experience. 
  • TATA Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL): TATA Power Delhi Distribution Limited (a joint venture between TATA Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi), has been the leader in implementing power distribution reforms in New Delhi, India. It focuses on imparting training to candidates on various skill sets of different sectors and then linking them to livelihood opportunities. DA has done various interventions with the beneficiaries of TPDDL vocational training centres in past one year, focusing majorly on providing information on different sectors and related job roles, interview readiness and other aspects related to livelihood preparedness.
  • Training Partner and Employer and Partnerships - As part of Bridge2Naukri programme, there are various partnerships developed. The propose to strengthen and further develop their strategic partnership on several fronts to mutually enhance the effectiveness of the existing and emerging initiatives of both the organizations. The overall intent of the partnership is to strengthen the employment ecosystem for the upliftment of the society. It intends to support linkage of unemployed youth with livelihood opportunities either through jobs or apprenticeship. It intends to create awareness about suitable jobs and employability among job seekers while sharing the information about upcoming job fairs, mega placement events etc. with each other to facilitate the placement of unemployed youth

Major Highlights

Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB): Organised drives for to substantiate our aim to link 30,000 youth to employment and livelihood opportunities, we conducted a Mega-Placement Drive for students of NCWEB in conference centre, North campus, University of Delhi. The two day programme aimed to facilitate the maximum number of students to gain employment opportunities. Students from 26 NCWEB colleges participated in the event and to facilitate placements, 23 widely known employer companies were invited to the placement drive.

Students from 26 NCWEB colleges participated in 2 days’ event (13 colleges each) and to facilitate placements, 23 widely known employer companies were invited to the placement drive. The two day programme had six sessions. The final result of the 2 days’ event (Day 1 and Day 2) was announced during the concluding ceremony was as follows

Recognition by Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited: TATA Power DDL honoured Development Alternatives’ team with an award for their contribution as a non-financial partner in supporting the linkage of their trained beneficiaries with livelihood opportunities through jobs and apprenticeships.

This was done as part of an ongoing Bridge2livelihood programme of Development Alternatives supported by UNDP, Citi Foundation and NSDC. Mr. Sanjay Banga, President, T&D, Tata Power; Mr. Ajit Kumar Singh, Director TATA Power-DDL & Member of CSR Committee; Mr. Ajay Shankar, Independent Director, Tata Power-DDL & Chairman CSR Committee and other senior officials of TATA Power-DDL participated in the event.
